Supervisor John Avalos Honors Small Businesses on Ocean Avenue

Mayor Gavin Newson, the Board of Supervisors and the Small Business Commission presented the City's 1st Annual Small Business Week Honorees Ceremony on May 18, 2010. The Board of Supervisors recognized 14 small businesses, one to three merchants from each of their districts.
Supervisor Avalos presented the award to Walee Gon of Mach III and Faxon Garage, Hossam Kaddoura of Java on Ocean, and Ken and Kellie McCord of NHance. "We are recognizing these Ocean Avenue merchants for their involvement in the community and their contribution of the Ocean Avenue revitalization efforts" announces Supervisor Avalos. The merchants have been nominated for being active members in the community, from participating in community events to gathering involvement from other merchants to improve the commercial corridor.

The Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District (CBD) is currently in the petition phase! Thank you for all for all of the community responses and support during our outreach and surveys in the past two years. We are collecting petitions to continue OARC’s community and economic development work in the community. Visual Merchandising Project
Our next visual merchandising project will be at Daytona Auto Body Shop at 1719 Ocean Ave., SF, CA 94112. Beginning April 2010, Nancy Cato will be painting a mural on the merchant’s roll-down gate. This project is just one of the ways to beautify the commercial corridor with community art, highlight our businesses, and abate graffiti. Learn more…
